@johnwilander What the article leaves unclear is whether the trash folder was cleared (support.google.com/mail/answer/7401?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en). Most probably the mails were still in the trash folder that gets purged after 30 days—which is more than the 3 weeks the author mentions. I acknowledge the feature should be opt-in.
